The Beachboys returned from Cray Wanderers with a 4-2 win and all 3 points, in what was a superb team performance.

Harry Elmes opened the scoring after 15 minutes, cutting in from the left flank and firing a shot into the far corner. Cray responded with a disputed penalty afetr 20 minutes with 'keeper Andy Young guessing the right way, but just failing to keep the shot out.

Tony Stokes then converted a self-won penalty on 27 minutes to put The Beachboys in front at the break.

Half Time: Cray 1-2 Concord

Stokes bagged his second 5 minutes after the break, and then completed his hat-trick with a well-taken left footed strike on 75 minutes to put The Beachboys 4-1 up.

The last 10 minutes of the game was fairly frantic, with Bremner scoring a placed header for Cray from a superb cross on 85 minutes, but the Concord defence held firm to make it 6 wins in the last 8 games in all competitions.

Full Time: Cray 2-4 Concord

Starting XI: Young, Ware, Robinson, Beckford, White, Tafazolli, J Elmes, Cowley, Lee, H Elmes, Stokes

The Beachboys came away from Park Lane on Boxing Day with all 3 points from the Island's 'El Classico' game following a 2-0 victory.

Goals from James Elmes and Harry Elmes sealed another derby day win in a  game that was at times short on quality; but definitely not effort from both sides.

Concord 'keeper Andy Young turned in an impressive performance between the sticks to frustrate a decent crowd of 757 at the Brockwell stadium.

Concord line-up: Young, White, Robinson, Beckford, King, Tafazolli, J Elmes, Cowley, Stanley, H Elmes, Stokes.

Danny Cowley - ''From The Dug-out'' - July

Thirty days, nine training sessions and four games into pre-season we are making good progress in our preparations for the new season. The players attitude and work ethic has been excellent and everybody is focused on being in the best possible physical condition come the 20th August. The four games played so far have all led to victories and we have only conceded one goal. That being said, we still feel that there is a lot more to come in terms of fitness levels, team organisation and individual performances. This is to be expected bearing in mind that we still have twenty-five days, six pre-season games left and five training sessions before the start of the season.

So far we have had the opportunity to have a look at a number of players and have been impressed by a number of their individual performances. In fact this year we have been inundated by players wanting to trial at the club. I suppose this is another sign of the progress that we have made as a football club. There is always a difficult balance to achieve for a manager in pre- season between looking at players in order to identify potential signings and providing enough game time for the players already signed. Dan and I allocate a lot of time to the planning of pre-season to ensure that we have enough games available to identify potential new players and make sure that all players have enough game time and training sessions in order to get their fitness levels to the required level and to ensure that all the players understand what is required of them within our team organisation.

Our style of play requires the players to be very fit and mobile. Consequently we try to sign players that naturally possess these qualities and then work very hard to get the maximum out of the players in these areas. This means that we demand an awful lot from the players in the fitness work that we do in training sessions and some of the sessions can be gruelling to say the least. To be fair to the boys, they buy into it, and show great determination and commitment. We have a rule that there is no place for moaning and groaning – It is important for team spirit that we don’t have ‘energy sappers’. If we all demand only the highest possible standards from ourselves and each other and rather than cut corners we all go the extra yard, it will help us in our quest for continued success.

We now come to the business end of pre-season and the focus shifts slightly from fitness to our team organisation and pattern of play. It is important that we continue to develop little partnerships all over the pitch and that all the players know our team organisation and more importantly can apply this in the changing situations that a football match creates. It is also crucial that as a team we are adaptable so that we can use different styles of play and formations in order to combat the strengths of opposition teams and also expose their weaknesses. The fact that we have managed to re-sign fifteen of last year’s squad should mean that our team organisation should be in a good place come the 20th August.

Over the next couple of weeks, Dan and I will be making final decisions regarding the squad. We hope to start the season with a squad of twenty players which will be made up of fourteen or fifteen ‘senior’ players and some talented younger players that we hope to get out on loan in order for them to gain some much needed experience of non -league football. On the injury front, Tony Stokes and new signing Sam Holloway have been suffering from muscular injuries, which has prevented them from training over the last week. Nicky Cowley has stepped up his rehab and is making good progress since he had cortisone injections in his knees during the close season to cure a long standing tendonitis issue in his knees. All of these players are obviously crucial to us and with the help of our physio Adam, we are hoping that they will all be fit come the start of the season.

Danny Cowley - ''From the Dug-Out'' 2011-2012

Our main aim during the close season was to retain all of the players that did so well for the club last year. Players such as Steve King, Ashley Miller and Harry Elmes have all had good offers from other clubs but decided to stay, which is fantastic for us.

The only two players that have not signed again for next year are Danny Glozier, who has decided to take a year out to travel the world and Gary Ogilvie who is going to play in the top division in Canada before continuing his education in Amercia.

Tony Stokes has signed again for us but with the agreement that he will go to Hartlepool for a weeks trial in pre season after they came in for him at the end of last season. Tony had a brilliant season for us last year and often gave us the little bit of quality that is the difference between winning and losing. He scored twenty five goals for us despite playing the first half of the season in midfield. He fully deserves the opportunity of getting back into the professional game and everyone at the club is fully behind him. If he is successful it will be the second player in two seasons that has left Concord Rangers to join a professional club. However if it doesn’t work out Tony knows that he has a club that he loves playing for and that think an awful lot of him.

Loyalty is a rare thing in football today and we feel very proud to have a group of players that share this quality. All fourteen of last year’s squad pledged their futures to Concord Rangers within the first week of May. It says a lot about what we have created here that the players want to stay even though they probably could have earned more money elsewhere.

We had ten players that played over forty games for the club last season and I am convinced that was crucial to our success. Continuity is a massive thing in football and I am sure our team spirit along with our team organisation developed as a consequence of this.

The players know that we have their best interests at heart and that this is an enjoyable place to play their football. We have a good group that are hungry to be successful both individually and collectively.

At times during the season we were criticised for being a little noisy in the dressing room after victories. However, we never did that out of a lack of respect for other teams it is just our way of celebrating success. What other teams need to remember is that we are probably one of the smallest clubs in terms of fan base and don’t have a massive support celebrating our successes. Consequently we rely even more on each other ‘for a pat on the back’. All of the players bought into this we were able to create a very special team spirit and togetherness on the back of this.

We had a brilliant season last year, to finish eighth in our first full year in the Ryman Premier, finishing above the likes of AFC Hornchurch and Billericay as well as doing the double over Canvey Island was beyond our wildest dreams. It was actually the first time in our four years together that we haven’t won anything but arguably, certainly in terms of performances, it was our best season to date.

If we are to continue to progress and exceed expectations it is important that we add to the squad in order to help the players we already have here. We need to try and add a left sided player, someone with a bit of pace going forward and a defender to increase the depth of our squad and add more competition for places. We have already spoken to a number of players and hope to be able to confirm some additional signings in the near future.

It is essential that the players we sign are the right players not just in terms of their quality but also their personalities. We want young, hungry players that are desperate to do well and be successful.

To add to Concord's success Congratulations also to our Under 18's who have got to a Cup final,  a brilliant effort as most of the lads are playing against teams a year older than themselves, I am sure their manager Brian Horne and all involved are very proud of the lads.

We have received the official letter from the Ryman Football League disqualifying us from progressing to the 4th Round of the Championship Manager Cup . We were not totally surprised with their decision but we thought them knowing the genuine circumstances they would have been lenient with the £100 fine that went along with the disqualification.
As I mentioned on the 7th Feb the three substitutes registrations plus another three players registrations were faxed to the League but the League are saying that they received six blank pages they knew  had come from Concord Rangers, surely you would have expected that someone from the Leagues office would have contacted us to find out why six blank pages had been received by them. We can now concentrate on the League and finishing in a play-off position.
The Club would like to congratulate the players who were successful on the night when they beat Billericay Town 2 - 0 as they did not deserve to go out of the competition in this manner.

Although we lost away to Hampton and Richmond in the F A Trophy, I have to say we never gave up, and we were probably the better team over the 90 minutes, however a couple of costly mistakes made the difference between the two sides.
Nevertheless an excellent performance from the lads, and lets take this sort of never say die attitude into our next game away to Enfield in the league on Tuesday evening.

A very good 2-0 win yesterday against an exceptional Enfield Town side, at last we were all witness to a great performance, something we all believed this team where capable off, and finally we got it.
The Danny's made a number of changes as expected with Skelton, Heale, and Williams coming back in to the starting line-up, with Taylor suspended, and Hayzleden injured, Beale went to left back with last season's centre back partnership coming back together again, and Dave Collins moving forward to to the left of midfield, and did this line-up work, all over the park we battled, and even when we under pressure, you never felt nervous, as our back four stood firm, the midfield won a lot ball all afternoon, and our strikers worked tirelessly. All I can say great performance, roll on next Saturday.
News Date: 28 Oct 2009
A good win last night at Saffron Walden, with us coming out 3-0 winners, and taking us through to the next round. As reported earlier this week the two Danny's made changes to Saturdays team, a few more than we may have expected, however this just shows the strength, and the faith the Danny's have in the squad, and of course this also gives them the opportunity to see the form of the rest of the squad, and with the added bonus of giving some of his regulars a well earned rest.
With Enfield our opponents on Saturday in the F A Trophy, I think we can expect much more of game, and once again a number of changes from last night's line-up.
On a lighter note, I was sitting near our dug out last night, when Danny Cowley turned to his bench in his own commanding way, and declared that Lyle Taylor's turn of pace reminded him of his own explosive turn of speed when he played, which certainly raised a smile or two among the bench, with Danny Heale almost falling off his seat, well Dan all I can say is with that much pace in the management team, I can't wait for Saturday, and the sprint to the bench.

For all you supporters that travelled to the VCD game, I hope you are all relaxing after hard fought end to end game, that kept us on tender hooks until the final whistle. The two Danny's made a couple of enforced changes with captain Nicky Cowley  (Groin) being replaced by Jack Carlile, and Danny Hayzeldon (Shoulder) position being taken by Dave Collins himself returning after injury sustained towards the end of last season, so it was good to see him back at last.

DAVE COLLINS
Finally spoken to Dave Collins yesterday at the game, he is working very hard on his general fitness, but like most long term injuries, when you start playing, and training again  somethingelse goes in this case Dave has a slight tear in his thigh muscle, so maybe another few weeks, before he is back, I am sure we all wish him well, and hope for a speedy return to the 1st team.

On Tuesday evening the first team entertain Heybridge Swifts, after the defeat to Lowestoft Town last Tuesday night, and the well contested draw to VCD Athletic, we all hope the improvement continues. The signs look good, the gritty performance aganist VCD, after going a goal behind twice in the game, the boys never gave up, pressing VCD at every opportunity, and could have snatched the game at the death, but maybe a draw was the fairest result over the 90 minutes.
So lets get behind the team on Tuesday night, and watch them get back to winning ways.
