nThis Saturday sees us travel to our friends at Brentwood Town for our opening pre-season friendly at The Brentwood Arena as part of our upcoming preparations for the 2018/19 Vanarama National League South campaign.
This game will be Sammy Moore’s debut game as manager of the Beachboys and it could also be his playing debut. It could be the same case with assistant manager Jack Midson who could also feature as could most of our new signings here. We might also see a few members of our League and Cup winning Under 18’s side feature as they look to showcase their talent from last season.
The Blues finished 21st in their 2nd season back in the Isthmian Bostik North division and they will be looking to have a much better season than the previous one. Manager Craig Shipman has kept on many members of their squad from last season.
Former-Beachboys striker Tony Stokes currently plays for the club following a move from fellow Bostik North side Bowers & Pitsea in January 2018 whilst Tom Ranger also played for the club last season on loan as did Andy Freeman who joined from the club and has now left for Aveley.
Admission for the game is set at £4 Adults and £1 Kids and kick-off is at 12pm which will allow supporters to stay behind and watch England’s FIFA World Cup Quarter Final tie against Sweden at 3pm.
Please note: Greater Anglia and TFL Rail are running a full weekend service. For those who wish to travel via the network, please change at Shenfield to gain access onto TFL Rail where you will just be on the train for just one stop (3 minutes).
If you wish to go via the C2C line, you can get a train either into Stratford or Liverpool Street and then gain access to TFL Rail upto Brentwood from the other platforms in the station. Please note that all trains are terminating at Liverpool Street due to track maintenance work between Upminster and Fenchurch Street.
Please note that once you get to Brentwood Station, it will take a 35-45 minute walk however you can reach the ground via the 37 First Bus service route that will take you to Doddinghurst Road. Ask for the Brentwood Leisure Centre and that should take you about 10-15 minutes with a few minutes walk after that.
Driving from Concord Island can take anything from 35-50 minutes where it involves using the A130 upto Pound Lane before using the A127 all the way to East Horndon before finally using the A128 to Brentwood.
The full address for the ground is as follows for all supporters:
