We’ve certainly got off to a pleasing start to the season and one of the key parts has been Arthur Lee’s return to the club. We sat down and chatted to the defender…
How glad are you to be back at Concord, and what as the main reason to sign for them?
Being back at Concord brings back so many old memories and this club was my first men’s football club so I’m very glad to be back here. When leaving Hemel Hempstead I had a few offers to go elsewhere, but when I saw that Concord were interested, it was a very easy decision for me. You don’t get clubs like Concord, when the players, staff and fans are one big family.
You’ve already left back and centre back already this season, which position do you prefer?
I’ve played wing-back and left back since I started playing football, but this pre-season I was asked to do a job at centre half and I enjoyed it. I would say left back if I was pushed to choose, as I enjoy going forward with the ball, but centre half is a position I could get used to at this level.
You mentioned going forward with the ball, what do you think are the main strengths of your game?
I was never blessed with lightning pace, so I had to practise other areas of my game. I’d like to say my reading of the game and heading are a strong point, as well as my passing, both long and short range.
What is an achievable target for the club this season?
With Concord finishing where they did last season and achieving beyond what they thought they could, I don’t really think there is a limit on what this club can achieve anymore. Our first priority is to get to 50 points as fast as we can and from there really push on and upset some teams in the division.
Saying that, the club has started with two wins out of two…
Starting the season off on the front foot is always important at any club and we’ve done that in the first two games. We have a tough game away at Truro on Saturday, but I’m very confident that we will go there and secure all three points.
