CONCORD will bid to secure a league and cup double over St Albans tomorrow.

Joe Gardner hit the only goal of the game as the Beachboys beat the Saints in the final qualifying round of the FA Cup in October.

This weekend’s clash at Clarence Park will be the first time the Vanarama South rivals have met in the league this season.

Concord start 13th in the table with 30 points from 21 games while the hosts are 11th with 32 points from 25 fixtures.

This week Gardner rejected a move to join up with his former Maldon and Redbridge coach Jody Brown at Welling – where Brown has recently been appointed manager.

Gardner is a product of Concord’s youth team and his decision not to move to a club at the next level up in the pyramid further underlines the terrific team spirit at Thames Road.

And there was more good news for the Beachboys’ youth system this week with Riggers Kabashi earning a call-up to the England Under-18s squad.

Tomorrow’s game with City gets underway at 3pm.

Concord are then next in action on Tuesday evening when they go to Dagenham & Redbridge for an Essex Senior Cup quarter-final which kicks-off at the earlier time of 7.30pm.
