The Clarets of Chelmsford City find themselves sitting aloft the top of the table after snatching a derby day win at a scorching Aspect Arena on bank holiday Monday.
Hosting Concord will struggle to accept not sharing the spoils though in a even 90 minutes. They were in the ascendancy in the first half, with Steve Cawley’s attempted supply to Jordan Cox cut off excellently.
Cox had a glorious opportunity to open the scoring but floated his effort agonisingly wide of the post.
Chelmsford sprung to life in the second half though, and scored immediately after the restart. Scott Davies capitalising from a knock down to screw a right footed shot inside the bottom left corner.
Lewis Taaffe was granted a chance to level terms, the ball falling kindly for him at the back post but he volleyed wildly over the crossbar before the game was sown up at the other end. A right sided cross finding Lee Barnard who took advantage of a goalkeeping and defensive crash leaving him the simple task of nodding into a open net.
