Vanarama National League South
Concord Rangers 2
Oxford City 1
Ht 1-0, Att 259
The Beachboys beat lowly visitors Oxford City in a nip and tuck affair at a cold Aspect Arena.
Goals either side of half time were enough to secure the points with The City feeling a little hard done by leaving with nothing.
Concord took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Femi Akinwande making a bursting run before unleashing a rocket into the top right corner from around 25 yards.
Akinwande missed a golden opportunity to double his tally just moments later when Jordan Brown swung a perfect cross to the back post which he screwed up from close range.
Zac McEachran should have equalised on the stroke of half time but his sweeping effort nipped the outside of the right post.
City looked sharper after the restart and gained parity as Freddie Grant capitalised from some slack defending, taking control and slotting home at the back post.
Concord struck the woodwork twice in their pursuit for a winner but the job was completed by skipper Steve Cawley who received a neat pass before placing beyond keeper Craig King.
