Vanarama National League South
Concord Rangers – 3
Da Costa 21
Greenhalgh 50 (pen)
Wealdstone – 1
Ht 1-0, Att 287
Concord make it 10 unbeaten in the league with a magnificent win over the in form Stones at a frosty Aspect Arena.
Wealdstone looked dangerous going forward but susceptible at the back, as Khale Da Costa displayed with a touch of class when he opened the scoring. On a driving right wing run he cut in onto his left and struck perfectly inside the far left corner leaving Jonathan North diving in despair.
Wealdstone should have been level at the break but Daniel Fitchett managed to miss an open ghosting in at the back post and hitting that same upright from point blank range.
The hosts looked very purposeful in attack during the second half as Ben Greenhalgh tricked his way to a penalty being felled by Edward Oshodi. Greenhalgh himself took responsibility and made short work from twelve yards doubling the lead.
Concords Lewis Taaffe was played clean through on goal but agonisingly placed his chance wide of the post before Wealdstone gave themselves a lifeline. A loose ball fell kindly for Oshodi who poked past Louis Wells to reduce the deficit.
From here you’d have expected the Stones to press for the equalising goal but it was all about the hosting Beachboys from here on out. A number of great openings were wasted before the killer blow was struck in the 90th minute. A blocked pass fell for the oncoming Harry Lee who shot low into the net from twenty yards to send the home fans wild and secure all three points.
