- Concord Rangers U11’s stepped up their preparations for this coming season over the last weekend by taking part in the Trinity Tournament on Saturday afternoon and then hosting Orsett Park Royals in a friendly on Sunday morning.
The format of Saturdays tournament meant that there were 2 groups of 5 teams with the winners of each playing in a final, and the runners up in each contesting a 3rd/4th place play off.
Unfortunately, Concords group was the stronger group on paper, and featured the excellent Leigh Ramblers side at the age group. However Concord gave an excellent account of themselves winning 2 games and drawing 2 including a good draw against Leigh Ramblers, unfortunately finishing runners up on goal difference, without conceding a goal.
The 3rd/4th playoff place was contested against a good Leighwood Utd side, however Concord won the game comfortably, 3-1, to collect their 3rd placed medals.
In the Final Leigh Ramblers deservedly picked up the winners medals, which was somewhat consolation for Concord having drawn with them at the group stages.
Squad, Archie Beadle, Callum Knowlden, Freddy Crowe, Lewis Spencer, Teddy Kinsley, Frankie Facey, Ben Hewitt, Ben Sweetman, Brad-lee Stone, Callum Dilliway, Jack Doyle and Riley Waters
Sundays game against Orsett Park royals gave manager, Phil Crowe, the opportunity to play some of the new intake of boys that will eventually make up the new Concord U11 Whites.
Concord fielded a strong team to start and this showed with them building a 3-0 lead after 15 minutes, the new boys were introduced and still Concord played some good football scoring some excellent goals, due to a shuffle of positions and new boys they did concede a couple late on but still came out worthy 7-2 winners.
There was some very complimentary comments from the Orsett Park Manger who was clearly impressed with Concords improvement and squad for this season.
Concord Rangers are still looking for player to strengthen their new U11 whites team, please contact Phil Crowe on 07534997284 if interested.
