Concord are grounded by a late Chippenham penalty at a wet Aspect Arena.

The hosts started brightly and crafted chances for Marcel Barrington and Decarrey Sheriff but both were saved easily by Will Ruddy between the sticks.

Town felt their way into the game and found success with the head of Chris Zebroski causing concern. Chris Haigh the Concord custodian made a sharp save at the start of the second half to keep the score square. The Beachboys thought they’d taken the lead when a fierce strike was saved by Ruddy, deflecting into the body of Sheriff and into the net but for a confusing late offside call on the striker ruling out the goal.

The yellow shirts drove forward with intent after this setback and squandered enough chances to win a handful of football matches before the proverbial sucker punch sunk their ship late on. A controversial penalty was awarded and the gift accepted, tucked away by Luke Hopper, Haigh getting close but not close enough.
