I hope everyone had a good Christmas and New year.

My half year review is one of disappointment but also one of optimism of how the remainder of the season will play out. I came to the club swapping the likes of Barkingside, Aveley and Romford for teams of the calibre of Dartford, Maidstone, Ebbsfleet. I had no knowledge of the level, the managers, the players and the first task was trying to replace the calibre of players that had left which was tough. I also replaced a person who I would call a friend and who was also the most successful manager the club has ever had so the task was always going to be challenging. I will be honest and say that for the first few months I felt very nervous and questioned myself as to whether the jump up in two divisions was a step too fast too soon.  However things slowly improved and I have started to feel more settled at this level as time has gone by. This is largely  down to the players effort which helped turn our results around during November but also down to Glen coming in and offering his wealth of experience to me which as a young manager has been extremely valuable. Youngie has also come back to the club as the goalie coach and having played at this level he has been a good addition to the club.

If I analyse the season so far then in my opinion we should be higher in the league, we should have done better in the FA Cup and FA trophy and these are the reasons why I am disappointed with the first half of the season. However we have shown in the two matches against Ebbsfleet and on other occasions this season that if we apply ourselves the right way that we are a very good team ourselves and this gives me reason for a lot of optimism going forward. We have a tough start to the second half of the season and a big Essex cup game next week, yet if we can come out of the first few month picking up points in the league and still in the Essex Cup then I can’t see why the last few months of the season won’t be entertaining.

We have a very honest squad, yet I still believe the players we have can push their performances on even further and this will help push us on as a team so the challenge has been set to them. As a management team will be challenging ourselves for continuous improvement in every aspect too so hopefully with the players and management team raising our performances in 2016 this will only have a positive impact on the outcome of the season.

As always thank you for your continued support of the team at games and on social media it is greatly appreciated.
