The Beachboys held a soccer school last week, and it was a roaring success. Over sixty 4-10 year old’s attended the school held by coach Charlie Gleisinger and his coaching assistants.
Charlie told us all about the week here…
“Concords half term Soccer School week was a fantastic week from all perspectives, it was clear that every child that attended the School loved the activities we put on and enjoyed taking part in what we were doing. It was refreshing to see all the young children with smiles on their faces, enjoying the game that we as adults have loved our entire lives, and that hopefully they will too!
Throughout the week the children took part in a number of different activities designed to ease them into the game and broaden their knowledge and skills without overwhelming them with information! These activities included:
Ball skill based warm ups along with high intensity warm ups with mini hurdles
Basic ball skills and turns
A skill school challenge
Crossbar challenge (a clip of which can be seen on our Facebook & Twitter pages)
1 on 1 and 2 on 2 games
Penalty shootouts (handy for our future England stars!)
Small sided tournaments and larger matches.
One morning the weather was not the kindest, so the children were treated to a dvd film morning inside the clubs function room!
It was down to those activities listed above that we were able to see the children develop their skills and ability, with all making clear progress and seeing vast improvements over the 5 days.
Personally I would like to say a huge thank you firstly to all the parents and children for attending and taking part. Every child showed an outstanding attitude throughout the week and were a true credit to their parents.”
We also spoke to two of the attendees who both loved attending the soccer school:
Jack aged 4 – “This is really fun. I love playing football.”
Paul aged 10 – “I’ve made loads of new friends and learnt new football skills that I can now do easily”
Charlie and his coaches will be looking to run the Soccer School in the Easter Holiday’s so keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter accounts and the club website for details closer to the time.
Also remember Tiny Tekkers is run every Sunday morning at Castle View School.
