Dreams

Reaching deep into my tiny mind I’ve unearthed the following script to describe my innate thoughts on what may unfold over the forthcoming 24 hours.

From a deep sense of melancholy to overwhelming elation in a day. The day we discovered our dream to compete for the opportunity of a lifetime stood intact in the face of unprecedented uncertainty. The emotional rollercoaster such is life took the wildest of turns and favoured our FC and it’s wonderful people, as fortune has done so on many occasions over the years since inception in 1967.

I am grateful to be lucky enough to share this experience with you all, but I am particularly happy that my Dad and Brother get to dream, experience and live this opportunity. I am hopeful that our very own Chris Crerie will be able to make it and I know that somehow, somewhere, our special Albert Lant will be watching on with the very same exhilarating adrenaline coursing through his spiritual veins as we’ll all feel come Saturday. I mention these men, because we quite simply wouldn’t exist as a football club without any single one of them, fact.

We are only here today because these men turned thoughts into actions. They made things happen. We now have the opportunity to make something extraordinary happen.

“If my mind can conceive it, and my heart can believe it – then I can achieve it”.

To our talented footballers. I will leave you all with these words. Everything you see and experience in this world started out as a dream. Literally everything. The buildings we live in, the cars we drive, the memories we make, the people we love. They all begin with a dream. I can guarantee we all shared a familiar dream growing up when falling in love with the beautiful game. To play at Wembley.

Be brave, have no regrets, and you’ll give yourself the greatest chance of making your childhood dreams come true.

Sleep well, be ready.
