Jed Smith will be leaving not only the beach boys but the UK as he makes the trip to the USA.

Jed has been a product of the youth system at Concord Rangers and is a player who has grown and grown since joining us as a kid.

Danny Scopes, Concord Rangers manager has known Jed since he himself joined the club some years ago and is gutted to not have Jed as part of his team next season but is thrilled for Jed as he takes on a new challenge.

‘I’m gutted to be losing Jed for next season, he has been a real success story for Concord Rangers and has made 50 plus appearances at National South, after coming all the way from u6s to the first team at Concord Rangers. He’s a true inspiration to any young player within the club’. Said Scopsey

Scopsey added ‘As a club, we are working hard with the youth sections from a young age to try and find more Jed Smiths that we can bring through to the first team. It would be a major asset to the club to create our own players from within the club. This is a target we have set as a club and will 100% support to try and promote from within when ready’.

Jed who will play for Lander University spoke about his time at the club ‘I have loved every season of my time at Concord Rangers from U6s, sad to be leaving such a great club, but excited for a new venture and to test myself in the states’.

Jon Brandon who runs JB Elite the company who supported Jed in his quest to play in the states added ‘It was an honor to place Jed. He is a talented young player with an attitude to match. He had the pick of around 3 or 4 top universities. In the end, he chose Lander University in South Carolina. They are one of the favorites for the NCAA title this year and he will be pivotal in their success’.

‘Jed was part of a successful SEEVIC program whom I am now working with closely to offer a pathway from college to the US soccer system and Head Coach Steve Roberts was also over the moon that Jed had secured such an amazing opportunity through JB Elite’ Add Job Brandon

We are intrigued to see how Jed does out in the USA and as his matches are live, we can all follow him on his journey!!!

We wish Jed all the best and remind him that the door is more than open for his return after his trip to the USA!
