Today Concord Rangers make their first trip to Bulpit Lane, home of Hungerford Town, who were promoted to the Vanarama National League South from the Southern League Premier last summer.

The Crusaders currently sit in 7th place in the league, 5 points off Poole Town who currently occupy the final playoff spot, but have not won in their last 3 games (losing 2 to teams also in the playoff/promotion battle) so have been slipping off the pace recently. Of course, even challenging for the playoffs has been a great achievement for a side so recently promoted. Their last game was a 2-0 loss against Hampton & Richmond Borough, who sit one spot above them in the league.

Concord Rangers also haven’t won in their last 3 games, earning 2 draws, which could be seen as a slump after having won 3 of their previous 4 games before this run. However their last game was far from poor, battling back to come from behind against 3rd place Dartford to secure a vital point in their quest for National League South survival. That point pushed The Beachboys into 17th spot, 9 points clear of Gosport Borough who “lead” the bottom three in 20th.

Getting to Hungerford is a bit of a journey by road or rail. By road expect to be driving for just over 2 hours. The first part is fairly simple, leave the Island and get to the M25 via either the A127 or A13 (depending on your personal choice), then join the motorway travelling anti-clockwise. Junction 15 is the destination, using that to join the M4. Then at junction 14 of that motorway, take the A338 to Hungerford. At the first roundabout turn right on to A4, next roundabout first left, 100 yards roundabout first left up High Street, go over three roundabouts, at fourth roundabout turn first left signposted “Football Club’. Take second left into Bulpitt Lane, go over crossroads, ground on left.

By rail it’s slightly simpler, into London first, then board a Great Western Railways service from London Paddington to Hungerford, which should take just over an hour (services are hourly throughout the day). Hungerford station is approx. 1 mile from the ground.

Admission costs to Bulpit Lane are as follows: Adults £12, Concessions £6, Children under 16 No Charge,
