The Beachboys look to continue their winning form in the Vanarama National League South this coming weekend as the lads travel down to Weston-super-Mare
Concord Rangers will be heading into the fixture having won their last two by a 2-1 scoreline at The Aspect Arena, and having only lost one game in the last 16, reaching the heady heights of 14th in the league table. With another positive result or two and other fixtures going the right way, the top half of the table could well be just a couple of weeks away.
Weston-super-Mare are looking to bounce back immediately after suffering a devastating 5-1 loss away at bottom of the table Whitehawk last weekend, although it’s not all bad for the side as they’ve won 4 of their last 6 and sit 2nd in the form table for that same period, funny enough just behind Whitehawk. Weston sit just inside the top half of the table, 7 points adrift of the first team in the playoff places Braintree Town.
The last time our two sides took on each other it was back on October 21st 2017. The points were shared in a 2-2 draw that day, with Steve Cawley bagging a brace. We’ve generally had positive results against Weston-super-Mare over the years in the National League (Conference) South, and will be looking for that to continue this weekend.
To get there by train it’s around a 2 & a half hour journey from London Paddington, using services run by Great Western Railway. There’s no direct trains from London, you actually have to change at Bristol Temple Meads for a connecting service. The ground is a 30 minute walk or 10 minute cab ride from the station.
If you wish to make the journey by road, it’s a drive of around 3 & a half hours from Thames Road to the Woodspring Stadium. First off head to the M25 either by the A13 or A127, then go northbound/anti-clockwise on the motorway for approx. 50 miles. When you hit junction 15 exit the M25 and join the M4 towards Slough/Reading (The West). Continue on the M4 through until junction 20 and exit onto the M5 (West). Leave the M5 at Junction 21 and take the A370 towards Weston town centre. Continue across three roundabouts and at the 4th (where there is a McDonalds) turn left into Winterstoke Road. Go straight across the mini roundabout, over a railway bridge and you will see the ground on your right hand side. There is a fair sized car park at the stadium however there are a limited amount of match day parking for Blue Badge holders, and these spaces must be booked in advance.
