PARINGDON SPTS 0 v 7 CONCORD u12

Essex County Cup 1st Rd

Concord u12 started their Essex County Cup campaign with an away trip to Harlow..

A nice flat surface gave the team encouragement that their pass and move game would suit the conditions and the first half was full of chances for Concord that with a little more composure in front of goal would have seen them 4 or 5 goals to the good, however it was 1-0 at half-time following a good run from Sam who scored a cracking goal.

Second half saw a change with Nathan replacing Ellis up front and immediately saw some reward as Nathan scored a great goal beating the home defence and slotting past the keeper.   A few moments later some well worked moves saw Nathan again burst in and smash home for 3-0.

Several more attacks and by now pretty much one-way traffic eventually saw Sam take the ball to the bye line before slotting home a tight angle for his 2nd..

Then Nathan completed a well-deserved hat trick as he coolly placed the ball in the corner after some great team play saw him breaking through the defence again to score.

Finally another attack saw some good approach work rewarded with a goalmouth mêlée where the ball and players fighting for possession, that saw Romie come flying past everyone to knock the ball home from close range. Then some confusion as to the scorer of the last goal but awarded to BaileyR, to complete the route!

The coaches were pleased that the team positively responded to last week’s defeat and played some good football.  Everyone contributed today to a fine performance, but MOM went to Nathan’s 2nd half display.
