The weather has finally started to impact our season, with our first postponement of 2016 occurring this past Saturday when we were meant to travel to Oxford City. With the fairly warm winter we’d had up until the new year, it was easy to get used to the fact that games were on every weekend without fail!
Hopefully this will be the first and only game that gets rearranged, but it is inevitable that over the next month or two the snow and rain will come and cause a bit of grief to our fixture list!
A new date for the Oxford City game will be published in due time, both on the website and here in the matchday programme. Providing we continue our involvement in the Essex Senior Cup after this weeks Quarter Final, there will be another game or maybe two to fit in as well, which could lead to a very congested end of the season if the weather gets worse.
Anyway, enough of the weather, I would like to just take a moment to wish former (yes, former) Beachboys midfielder Joe Gardner all the best as he takes some time away from football. There’s a short interview with Joe up on the website, he’s had some great times with this club over the years and a lot of successes, but sometimes as a player you can lose your love for the game. So I’m sure I speak for all the Concord fans and everyone at the club when I saw thank you Joe for all the hard work and effort you’ve put in over the years here, and we wish you all the best of luck going forward in whatever you choose to do.
On a related note, Jordan Cox has returned to Braintree Town after spending a number of months on loan with us here at Concord Rangers. Jordan put in some determined performances over his time here, but will be remembered by the lads for his questionable clobber on the team christmas do! Again I’d like to wish Jordan the best of luck back at Braintree Town for the rest of the season.
You Are My Concord!
