An unusual fixture for our boys playing a team from the age-group above (u13) and playing 11 v 11 for the first time as usually is 9v9.. so with all main team playing and one trialist as sub..

However a well drilled and disciplined performance proved to the management that this team is adaptable to any system required.

Playing on a full size pitch the team had to adapt to large amounts of space and for Joe the keeper large goals too, but we set up 3-1-4-2, with the opposition being physically bigger than us but didn’t cause us any issues in the first half.

Our defensive team of Loui, Bailey R, Max & Mullet were strong and focussed.. the midfield created many chances and the forwards hassled their defence and didn’t allow them any time or space on the ball..

We turned around 0-5 up with goals from – Bailey P, Romie (2), Finley & Nathan..

2nd half we expected a little more pressure from the opposition but we rallied well and found lots of space wide with Sam, Bailey P & Ellis making several dangerous runs creating many chances that we were unlucky not to convert.. we continuously soaked any pressure in midfield by Mullet & Finley.. then we started to score again with goals from Nathan (his 2nd), Finley (his 2nd), Ellis & trialist Freddy.. then a substitution change for us and Rayleigh made a rare attack and scored against the run of play.

Finally Romie completed his hat-trick and a last ditch attack saw Bailey P get brought down in the box and scored his second goal from the rebounded penalty.

A resounding win for the team, long may it continue.
