This coming weekend Concord Rangers will get their 2017/18 Buildbase FA Trophy journey under way as the lads travel to Taunton Town.

Taunton Town, known as The Peacocks, earned their place in the Third Qualifying Round having beaten Beaconsfield Town after a replay and penalties in the previous round. They currently sit atop of the Evo-Stick South, 5 points clear of their nearest rivals and with 2 games in hand. This past Tuesday they also took on Weston-super-Mare in the 2nd Round of the Somerset Premier Cup.

The Beachboys will be looking to get a winning run going as they head into Saturdays fixture, having picked up their first league win since August this past weekend by beating Chippenham Town 4-2. Those vital three points ended a run of 7 consecutive league draws and helped push Concord Rangers a little further from the bottom three.

To get there by road, it’s a journey of over 3 & a half hours, so make sure you prepare yourself for a bit of a trek if you choose to drive! Head to the M25 using either the A13 or A127 and join the motorway heading clockwise, over the Dartford crossing. You’ll be on the M25 for around 50 miles until junction 12, which you take and join the M3 towards Basingstoke/Southampton.

After 30 miles at junction 8 take the A303 exit to Salisbury/Andover, a road you remain on for around 85 miles. Then at the Southfields Roundabout, you take the 4th exit onto the A358 (M5) to Taunton. Now it’s the home stretch, turn left onto Greenway Ln, continue onto Stoke Rd then turn right to continue on to Haydon Ln. Turn right onto Chestnut Drive, and at the roundabout take the first exit on to Lisieux Way and the ground will be on the right.

By rail it’s a slightly less complicated journey, but around a similar time frame as it takes just under two hours from London Paddington (whilst it’ll take an hour or so to first get there from Concord Island). Services run direct to Taunton every hour, operated by Great Western Railways, and the station is a 25 minute walk from the ground. Initially turn left out of the station and follow the road right through the Town Centre, bearing left into East Reach. Follow the road down and turn right into Wordsworth Drive shortly after Holcombe’s Garage.

Standard admission prices for Taunton Town are as follows: Adults £8.00, Concessions £6.00, U18s £3.00 and U14s are free
