Welcome to View From The Opposition. This is our website feature that we will be putting out every week ahead of our upcoming matches this season. Monday afternoon sees the Beachboys welcoming the ‘Wings’ to the Aspect Arena to take on Welling United for our 7th Vanarama National League South game of the season so here’s the view of one of the Welling United fans
1 – What’s been your thoughts on Welling’s start to the season?
Welling’s season so far has been a mixed bag. Two good wins have been supplemented by two draws that should have both been wins, and two defeats. The loss at Eastbourne was amazing as Welling pummeled them for ninety minutes yet conceded from Eastbourne’s only clear chance. The Billericay defeat was strange too as 3-0 was a very unjust score-line but they were clinical in front of goal and Welling aren’t at presaent.
1 – How did you find the recruitment over the summer?
Recruitment over the summer was plentiful. Only Bradley Goldberg, Jack Jebb and Archie Johnson remain as new manager Steve King has brought in his own team. Whitehawk were third in the form table in the second half of last season and many of the players who King signed when he took over there have followed him to Park View Road.
1 – What Are Your Hopes For Welling United this season?
Hopes for Welling United this season are high. Welling have under performed since being relegated and I will be disappointed if the club fails to make the play-offs. I also hope for decent runs in the FA Cup and FA Trophy.
1 – What’s been your impressions on Concord Rangers and their start to the season?
My impressions of Concord this season are good. Concord are top of the league at the time of writing and Sammy Moore has brought in some quality players. I know things haven’t been great since the Cowley brothers left and Welling have enjoyed some good results away to Concord in the last two years but I expect a tougher game this time.
1 – Who’s the one to watch for the Wings?
It’s difficult to pick out one to watch as I’m not sure who will play. Jack Jebb and Brendan Kiernan are both on fire and I believe that once Danny Mills has scored his first goal I reckon that he’ll score many.
1 – What’s your starting 11 prediction?
Predicted starting XI Wilks, Banya, Braham-Barrett, Jebb, Audel, Acheampong, McCallum, Kissock, Goldberg, Mills, Kiernan.
