u12 CONCORD 2 v 1 Forrest Glade

Concord played host to another strong team as Forest Glade currently sitting unbeaten on top of the Southend League u12 Premier Division at Castle View school ground on Sunday.

Concord had to make some enforced changes with one player leaving the team after last week’s defeat, and due to half term another on holiday, so down to the bare 9 players.

Concord were a dominant force and were consistently creating several chances with Nathan making a nuisance of himself with the Glade defence.. Concord had much of the play going forward keeping their keeper busy, and in the first period defensively looking sound limiting Glade to few chances.

In the second half it was a similar story with more end to end football making an exciting game, but Glade were attacking a little more than before and it was during one of these attacks that a mix up by Concord keeper allowed Glade to score first from a rebound.

It was now a test of character for the Concord boys who seemed to pick themselves up and continue to press high even though Glade sat with 3 defenders most of the game, but through hard work and belief Concord’s dogged determination paid off as Nathan scored a deserved equalising goal giving the team a lift.

The game continued in the same way with attacks by Concord down each flank being rewarded as again With 9 minutes remaining Nathan was on hand to score his second goal placing it over the keepers head.. Concord saw out the remainder of the game to log their 3rd win from 5 games, and move into 2nd spot in the table behind Forest Glade..

Next week – Leighwood Yellow away (sitting 3rd on same points and game in hand)
