League sponsors Vanarama have been digging around as the season starts to get serious!
Fans of Concord Rangers might think they’ve seen this season all before. The club are in an almost identical position to that of a year ago.
Besides, it’s not that important to get off to a good start, is it?
Let’s take a look at last season – Torquay United were nowhere to be seen at the 11-game stage last season, the would-be champions were all at see until a Gary Johnson-style rescue package was dropped on Plainmoor.
Top of the tree in mid-September were Billericay Town, that offered false hope to those in Essex who bought into their owner’s close season statement which declared they would not only win promotion but do it as champions. They ultimately failed to make the play-offs.
The Beachboys were ninth, just outside the play-off places. With 18 points in the bank, they were very much in touch with the early pacesetters but even Gloucester City down in 17th weren’t too far off the wide-open fledgling league table.
So how does this season so far compare to that of 12 months ago?
Things are looking good. They might be in the same league position, but they’ve managed to score two more goals and keep their conceded tally exactly the same.
Wealdstone are blowing it out of the water which is making it tough to stay in touch with the top. The Stones already have an eight-point gap from anyone else. At the same stage last year, Billericay were tied on points with second place Woking.
Vanarama have recently launched the National League Club Reward scheme to help fans back their club’s budget. Every time a fan takes out a brand new van lease with Vanarama or a brand new car lease with Motorama their club will earn £100 and you will receive £30 cashback.
