This weekend Concord Rangers will finally be getting back into competitive action as they host St Albans City in the Vanarama National League South.
After 3 weeks with the weather bringing games to a halt in a number of ways, the Beachboys look to get back to winning ways having lost their last three league fixtures. Most recently was just under a month ago at The Aspect Arena as the lads lost 2-0 against Welling United, and prior to that they fell 1-0 away at Weston-super-Mare and at Gloucester City. Those losses and the recent weather-inflicted inactivity has seen Concord Rangers fall to 19th place, just 3 points clear of Poole Town in 20th.
Our opponents however are at the other end of the table, in the playoff places by goal difference over Braintree Town and Welling United as they sit in 6th. The Saints run of form though isn’t too dissimilar to our own, having lost their last two fixtures, and three of their last four. Most recently St Albans City travelled to Hungerford Town this past Monday night and lost 3-1, prior to that they lost 1-0 at home to Truro City on Saturday 10th March.
The last time our two sides met it was back at the end of August last year, when Concord Rangers went to Clarence Park and were beaten 2-1, Steve Cawley grabbing the Beachboys goal that day.
Both sides will be desperately looking for a win and 3 points this coming Saturday, albeit for very different reasons…
