FA Trophy Quarterfinal
Saturday 29, February 2020
Concord Rangers v Royston Town
While we understand and share your frustrations over the unfortunate late postponement yesterday, we ask that you be mindful of what you post in anger on social media.
We currently have a couple of young students volunteering their time to help run our social channels, so we’d like to implore you to #bekind ahead of venting blind sighted anger and abuse. There is after all, another person with emotions and feelings just like you on the receiving end and this game we all love and cherish is after all, just a game.
There was also regretfully, a incident which took place where one of our turnstile operating ladies was verbally abused. We take the safety of our staff with extreme importance and this will not be tolerated. Any reoccurring offences of this nature in the rearranged fixture will result in expulsion from the ground and the police will be called.
With regards to the postponement itself we had our ground staff and a number of volunteers work tirelessly on the playing surface throughout the week with this work unfortunately undone by a unforeseen torrential downpour of rain between 11.00 – 11.40 on match day. Prior to which the playing surface was clearly fit for purpose.
Match day referee Sam Barrott arrived at 11.50 where he instructed our ground staff to work on the areas of his concern which he’d later re-evaluate to make a call, which he finally did at 14.05.
