Vanarama National League South
Concord Rangers 0
Welling United 2
Greenhalgh OG 62
Welling overcame their hosts Concord in a close contest at a very blustery Aspect Arena.
Goals either side of half time from Jack Parkinson and a own goal by Ben Greenhalgh was enough to send the points home to South London.
The Beachboys had the better of the first half, a host of chances fell for Femi Akinwande and Aristide Bassele but went astray before Wings’ Jamie Phillpot drew a magnificent save by Louis Wells.
Welling had the lead on the stroke of half time, a fortuitous rebound presented itself to Parkinson who drilled home low into the net.
Concord huffed and puffed in pursuit of an equaliser but were two down on the hour as Ryan Hall’s wide free kick was nodded into his own net by Greenhalgh.
Greenhalgh was gifted an immediate chance to redeem himself as Parkinson felled Akinwande for a penalty. He struck powerfully onto the crossbar to compound his and Concord’s fortune.
Welling ushered out any further attempts at reducing the arrears to move up to 8th in the standings. Concord remain in 17th.
