AT CONCORD’S home game with Gosport on Saturday we welcomed the first attendees of the club’s inaugural Soccer School , which took place between August 18-22.

It was held at Thames Road on the mini pitch and run by Ben Stokes and Beachboys midfielder Gary Ogilvie, who are both qualified coaches.

On Saturday the youngsters took part in a special training session on the Aspect Arena pitch and met all their first-team heroes at the Vanarama South fixture with Gosport.

There were 29 participants at the soccer school, aged between seven and 11, and they took part in a number of soccer based training exercises and other events too.

During the lunch breaks they took part in a special ‘Concord’s Got Talent’ competition, where they all had time to show off their singing, dancing and magic abilities – important skills for any young Beachboy!

Special mentions from Ben and Gary have gone to Tallis Watson-Higgs and Harley Pearce, who won the penalty competitions, Charlie Murton and Tai Watson Higgs, who shone as the players of the week, and George Mcgonagle, who won the Concord’s Got Talent competition with a dancing number!

With the success of the first Soccer School, plans are now being put in place for another one to take place during the October half term.

Please keep an eye on our website for more details as the time approaches.

In the meantime all youngsters are always welcome to Ben Stokes’ Beachboys In The Community session every Saturday morning from 10am to 11.30am for four-11 year olds.

For more information on that you can call Ben on 07779 964500.

Both Ben and Gary would like to thank all the children for attending and look forward to seeing you in the future.
