Who? St Albans City

What? The Emirates FA Cup

When? Saturday 18th September 2021

Where? The Aspect Arena

This weekend Concord Rangers welcome St Albans City to the Aspect Arena to kick off their 2021/22 FA Cup campaign. The beachboys put in a brilliant performance in last week’s league game against Maidstone United where they managed to secure a point in a 2-2 draw after going down to ten men. Concord will be looking to continue a good run of form in the hope of making progress in this legendary cup competition.

Our opposition:

St Albans City are a fellow Vanarama National League South side who currently sit mid-table on seven points. The saints have won two games, lost two and have drawn one so far in the league, whilst scoring plenty of goals. Last season they got as far as the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup, where they were then knocked out of the competition by Bishop’s Stortford.

Ones to watch:

Concord Rangers – Joe Payne: Payne has put in some very impressive performances so far this season as a full-back, proving to be a key asset to the squad. Last week he earned himself man-of-the-match after not only appearing as a left back, but also replacing Myles Roberts as goalkeeper for the final 25 minutes.

St Albans City – Shaun Jeffers: Jeffers is currently top goal scorer in the National League South this season, scoring eight goals and assisting two in the opening five games. The striker signed for the saints in the summer of 2020 and has become a regular starter in the first team.
