CONCORD RANGERS currently top the Football Conference – in a very special way.

As part of the brilliant Vanarama Big Day Out project, the Beachboys have sold more tickets to this season’s Conference National play-off final than any of their 66 rivals in the three top non league divisions.

The project allows members clubs to sell heavily discounted vouchers, which can be used to go to the showpiece match at Wembley Stadium on May 17.

Until February 28 the vouchers are available for £10 per adult and £5 for Under-16s, and after that date they will increase to £20 and £10. A family of four could save as much as £86 by taking up the ‘early-bird’ offer to see two sides battle it out for a place in the Football League.

Last year’s final saw Cambridge United prevail after beating Gateshead 2-1 to return to the Football League for the first time in nine years.

Concord have already sold 201 and were moving quickly towards 300 at the last count and have booked six coaches – which will be full of the club’s loud and proud youth teamers at the home of football.

The most sold by a team from Conference National so far is 140, and the best in the Vanarama North is 115.

It means that the emerging Canvey Island-based club’s yellow colours will be well represented at Wembley this season – something which delights Concord chairman Antony Smith.

He said: “It is great to know our club will be so well represented at Wembley at such a big occasion.

“I think the organisers at the Conference want to generate a really good family atmosphere on the day and with all of our brilliant youth teams in attendance we will certainly help with that.

“And hopefully in the not-too-distant future they will get the chance to see the Concord first-team step out onto that Wembley pitch, because we are an ambitious club.”
