Congratulations to Concord Under 11’s Blue on their progress to the Thames Medal Trophy semi final. On Sunday they won their quarter final against Southend Manor YFC Red by 6 goals to 1.
With Paul Appleton scoring 4 and Brandon Lee with the other two.
In a hard fought first half Concord took the lead with a fine chance created down the right hand side by Brandon who crossed for Paul to convert. After conceding it seemed to bring Southend to life and within 5 minutes they were level.
A similar story applied to Concord as they now switched up a gear and regained the lead before half time after another effort from Paul.
With the score at 2-1 it was still all to play for in the second half. Concord started brightly and began to dominate play in midfield and with this they also started to play fluid football and making full use of the larger playing surface, from the one they are used to at home.
Paul completed his hat trick, after some next passing in midfield, before Brandon opened his account. Paul then added his fourth and Brandon rounded of the game with his second not long before the final whistle.
A superb performance by the whole team and reward for the effort put in by everybody, against a team that when we have played previously has resulted in games that were a lot closer.
Concord Blues can now look forward to a home draw in the semi final which is due to be played on Sunday 24th, K.O to be confirmed.
