CONCORD retained the Essex Senior Cup with ease after seeing off a Billericay side who finished with nine men in front of a crowd of 723 at Victoria Road.
The Beachboys took a third minute lead when Joe Gardner applied a cool finish to Taylor Miles’ brilliant through-ball and then Town had their captain Richard Halle sent off for a last man challenge on Tony Stokes.
Stokes made it 2-0 on 14 minutes when he expertly trapped the ball in the area and then found the bottom corner and it was 3-0 before half-time when Gardner steered home his second after bursting into the box.
Billericay striker Afolobi Obafemi’s shot skidded off the top of the crossbar at the start of the second half but Concord extended their lead just before the hour mark when Ryan Melaugh tripped Gardner just inside the bos and Danny Glozier converted the resutling spot kick.
Town’s night got worse on 76 minutes when Ricky Sappleton was shown a straight red card for an elbow on Gary Ogilvie near the touchline and ten minutes later sub Lewis Taaffe made it 5-0 by helping Steve King’s downward header across the line from close range.
