Ahead of tomorrow’s National League South fixture between the Beachboys and visitors, Truro City, we spoke to last week’s FA cup goalscorer for us, Adam Topley.
The young Midfielder has come through the ranks of our academy in recent years, last year under former manager, Adam Flanagan, the youngster started many a times for us and scored a scorcher vs Braintree at the latter stages to the season.
Take a read of our official interview.
Adam, a goal on Saturday, what went through your head when it went in?
I was pleasantly surprised if I’m honest as I’m not known for my heading but of course I was buzzing, I love scoring goals. I was more pleased to put the game to bed and help secure our place in the next round of the FA cup.
That win was quite a relief and a morale booster for the squad, what was the atmosphere like in the changing rooms after the game?
2- It was great getting back to winning ways after a tough couple of weeks, result wise. The boys were over the moon and the song was sung very, very loud!
Truro at home this Saturday, as you know despite their league position they’re a tough side, how will the lads be going into the game?
3. We all know what Truro are about, a very good side but it will be down to how we applicate ourselves on the day. After the performance Saturday we will be going into the game in a positive mindset looking for the 3 points.
You’ve been part of the ‘New Era’ I guess we can call it, what’s the change been like for you as a player? Increase in fans, new staff (on and off the field) etc.
4. The change in the summer for this season has been positive on myself and the club, its definitely bought the buzz back. For me it’s been an easy transition as the management team and the boys are top class so it was really easy to settle in. I’ve just been unfortunate with my injury in the summer but am really pleased to be back and helping the team. Furthermore off the back of everyone’s hard work more fans are coming through the gate which we all appreciate a lot.
And lastly the support you and the squad have had has been quite magnificent, what would you say to that?
5- All I can say is a massive thankyou to everyone who goes out of their way to come and see us play. It’s like having a 12th man at times and drives us to perform better.
Thankyou Adam for taking the time to speak to us.
