Following yesterday’s announcement of Chris Sutherby being announced as the new Concord Rangers U18s manager, we spoke to him to find about a little more about him and his new role.
Take a read.
Firstly Chris, how did the offer come about?
“I had just resigned after 7 years with Leigh Ramblers & had been doing some coaching with Concord u15s with Scopes (Danny Scopes). The opportunity arose a few weeks ago and had gathered pace from there really. Phil Crowe approached me wondering if I’d be interested in the position and it was a no brainer for me. Genuinely buzzing to get going in the position.”
The club are progressing from first team to youth teams, how excited are you to get started?
“I’m excited to be apart of this progressive club, it has a great reputation with producing good young players at a senior level. Alot of hard work is done by the youth teams in different age groups to see players progressing.”
Would you encourage fans to come down and see what your lads have to offer?
“Of course, we’ve had a few of the boys already train with the 1st Team this season. Kiah Froud has been on the bench a large part of the season, Cameron Harris got 15mins against Slough and Louie Hunt did very well against Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night. Hopefully it’s a springboard for others to grab an opportunity.”
Since Sammy Moore has come into Concord as first team manager, have you seen a big difference both on and off the field?
“Massively so, Sammy has done wonders to enhance the great work done by the chairman & committee already. Standards on & off the pitch are very high, there is a massive buzz about the place and some very talented playing in all the youth teams at the club.”
Thanks for taking the time to answer our questions, Chris. Best of luck with the new role and we encourage any of our supporters to go down and show their support for the boys!
