Following the arrival of Chris Search as permanent manager, James Blanchfield is one of the first player to commit to Concord Rangers ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Amongst helping the club reach the FA Trophy Final for the first time in their history, ‘Blanchy‘ will be entering his third season with the Beach Boys.
How does it feel to sign for Concord to play your third season at the club?
“I’m really pleased to be at concord for another season. I’ve really enjoyed playing my football here and long may that continue.”
Playing at Wembley was your 50th appearance for the club. What can the team do to push on this season?
“I feel as a team keeping some consistency will really help us. Last season we built some good relationships on and off the pitch. I think the management team will have some new ideas which is only going to help us add to what we already have.”
You know Chris Search quite well, what do you think he can add to the team as the new manager?
“Yeah, I know him very well. I’ve seen Searchy manage with the U/18s and they have been very successful.
“He likes to try and get the ball down and play attacking football. He’s a winner and I think that will rub off on everyone.”
What are the goals for the new season?
“Personally, my goal is to play as many games as possible, influence the team in terms of goals and assists but to mainly stay fit throughout.
“As a group, however, it would be to be as high up the table as possible and add a nice cup run in there.”
You had a few injures over the last season, how are you feeling now?
“I’m feeling good. At the start of last season, I had a few niggles but I’m over them now and feeling as fit and strong as possible. I’m ready for the big season ahead.”
