After the team’s resounding opening day victory against Weston Super Mare, we sat down with key man James White to hear his thoughts on the new pitch…

The pitch  has had a major overhaul in the pre-season, how enjoyable was it to play on?

Can I just say the amount of effort put in by everyone at the club is outstanding, and significant investment has gone into the well-being of Concord which is elevating the club every season.  I remember playing against Concord when there was sand everywhere and it wasn’t a place you’d want to play football.  Now with this fantastic pitch, if you can’t play decent football on that pitch you might as well go home!

The lads certainly played decent football Saturday, how important will be the club’s home record this season?

Having a good home record this season is the difference between doing well this season and relegation, we need to make sure we get something from every home game this campaign. It won’t be easy with the quality of teams in the league, but the boys will be trying their hardest every game.

What role can the fans play in assisting the team in this regard?

The fans may be small in number, but any noise/encouragement they give makes a massive difference, trust me. As I’ve said earlier the amount of effort and commitment put in by everyone at this club is outstanding.

James and the rest of the boys now have two away games coming up, first up is tonight at Wealdstone, then the long away trip to Truro on Saturday.  Just remember any encouragement you can give the players makes a difference!
