Millie Hawkins previews our first awayday of the season as we visit Oxford City who started the season with a 1-1 draw against Braintree Town.
Who? Oxford City
What? Vanarama National League South
When? Saturday 21st August 2021
Where? Velocity Stadium, Oxford
This weekend Concord Rangers head to the Velocity Stadium to take on Oxford City in the Vanarama National League South. The beachboys go into this game looking to gain another three points after a fantastic win against Dorking Wanderers on the first day of the season.
Oxford City gained one point from their opening game against Braintree Town last weekend after centre back Dan Matsuka scored a late equaliser to make the final score 1-1. Despite what the score line suggests, Oxford created plenty of goalscoring opportunities whilst having the tendency to press high up the pitch. The draw leaves the hoops in 12th place in the league table – 5 places below the beachboys in 7th.
Ones to watch:
Oxford City – Harvey Bradbury: Bradbury joined the hoops at the beginning of the 2020/21 season after a spell at Millwall. Last season the 22-year-old striker scored eight goals in 15 appearances.
Concord Rangers – Temi Babalola: Babalola’s penalty against Dorking Wanderers helped to secure all the points for the beachboys last week, and the striker was a big threat to the opposition’s defence. The number nine was heavily marked by the Dorking centre backs but was still involved in creating chances alongside Lamar Reynolds.
