A tight match with a sending off and an outfield player appointed into the Chippenham Town net saw Concord Rangers draw 1-1 at Hardenhuish Park.
Early on in the game Chippenham had the best of the chances, narrowly missing the net, with a downwards header just past the far post.
The game sprang to life in the final 15 of the first half when Babalola was found smartly by Blanchfield. The goalkeeper committed to the ball and got the player as Babalola went to go around the keeper. Unfortunately for Will Puddy, it was a goal scoring chance and was shown a straight red.
The outfield player Joe Hanks stepped up for Chippenham as there was no back up keeper on the bench. The sending off saw a chance for Jack Bridge to have a shot at goal from the freekick. He took a low shot just from the edge of the box and it went into the bottom corner making it 1-0 to the Beachboys.
In the 38th minute Concord then had a chance skim the post after Blackman directed a header towards goal.
The second half started slow for both teams. Despite being down to 10-men Chippenham, they clinched an equaliser in the 76th minute, Adam Mann had the ball fall to his feet at the back post and he half volleyed it into an open net, 1-1.
After the equaliser either team didn’t have many chances, a couple corners and free kicks here and there, but it was clear Chippenham where playing out for the draw and that’s exactly what they did.
