A powerful strike from former Beach Boy Lyle Della-Verde saw Concord Rangers and Welling United draw Tuesday night’s game 1-1 at the Aspect Arena.

Welling started off strong when Lyle Della-Verde was causing trouble, driving the ball towards Concord’s defence, passing it to Ben Ward-Cochrane who was given the chance to shoot. However, Chris Haigh pulled of a flying save denying this chance.

11 minutes later, Tosan Popo swept the ball into the box, falling to the feet of a group of the Beach Boys. The shot on goal was saved by Reice-Charles Cook falling to the feet of Lamar Reynolds at the back post, but Nathan Greene cleared it off the line.

Finally, in the 48th minute, Concord broke the deadlock. Alex Wall was fouled inside the area. The striker stepped up and released one of the most-fierce penalties you’ll see making it 1-0 to the Beach Boys.

Not long after, Concord switched off and a shot from the left side of the box from former player, Lyle Della-Verde, was sweetly struck in off the post making the game tied.

Desperate to score in the 65th minute, Temi Babalola tried to force an error out of the Welling United goalkeeper and instead clipped his shoulder committing a foul.

In the last 10 minutes it was obvious that Welling United where playing out for a draw, this was clear from the lack of chance from each team at the end of the interval, misplaced crosses and passes seemed like a theme at the end of this game and this resulted in the 1-1 draw.
