A close encounter ended with penalties as Aramide Oteh slotted past Chris Haigh to send Stevenage through to the FA Trophy Second Round.
Ben Coker opened the scoring midway through the first half firing a shot past Chris Haigh. The full-back tip toed through the defence before putting the hosts 1-0 up.
However, on the stroke of half-time, a scramble inside the box was finished by Alex Wall as he tapped in at the back post brining the game to level terms. A brilliant delivery from Temi Babalola on the right side was met by a Blackman and the goalkeeper but Wall was the man to put the ball in the back of the net.
The second half saw many chances for both sides, but no one could trouble either goalkeeper enough to put their side ahead.
Extra-time started with a bang. A miss-communication from the Concord defence gave Inih Effiong enough time to pick the ball up, turn and set it up for Danny Newton to unleash the shot past Haigh.
The second half started like the second, silky footwork from Lamar Reynolds gave him enough space to put the ball on a plate for Odei Martin to header in from close range.
The second equlaiser brought the adrenaline for Concord. Their resilient defence continued to stand-out and prevented Boro’ time and time again!
The full-time whistle, for the second time, meant it was time for penalties!
Jamie Cumming was the hero. Tosan Popo stepped up first but saw his effort saved by the Stevenage goalkeeper.
Unfortunaltey, there was no more saves for either team, resulting in the proud Concord Rangers team to exit the competition.
A brilliant and strong performance from the Beach Boys wasn’t enough. Every single player on this journey has something to be proud of!
