DEFENDING champions Concord booked a place in the semi finals of the county cup with an exciting 4-2 penalty shootout win over Dagenham & Redbridge.
Concord took a 21st minute lead when captain Tony Stokes crossed for Joe Gardner to head home but the hosts’ captain Abu Ogogo soon equalised with a spectacular hit from distance.
The Beachboys took a deserved 2-1 lead into the interval, though, when Stokes curled home a brilliant direct free-kick.
The Daggers drew level again early in the second half when winger Jodi Jones went on a mazy run and curled a beauty into the top corner.
And that is how it stayed – taking the tie to penalties.
Rangers keeper Josh Vickers was the hero in the drama as he saved from Joe Widdowson and Ogogo to keep Danny Cowley’s men on track to defend the cup they won at Victoria Road last season.
