Match Report
CONCORD were looking to take the points with a fortnight break looming due to the Salisbury City administration situation leaving the league a team short and they enjoyed a comfortable 4-2 win over a sluggish looking Wealdstone side, writes Jack Smith.
The visitors took the lead against the run of play with Scott McGleish capitalising on a defensive error and his weak strike narrowly beat Jamie Butler.
Butler then had to depart having picked up a head injury which saw centre half Jack Lampe replace him in the sticks – to the amusement of the Stones following.
The hosts turned it around prior to the break with an equalising point blank header from Jordan Chiedozie.
Then just two minutes later man-of-the-match Steve Cawley took advantage of a weak clearance from keeper Jonathan North to then beat the custodian with a low shot to the bottom left corner.
Concord put their foot down in the second half and effectively put the game to bed when Gary Ogilvie reacted well to a rebound and placed the ball inside the far right corner.
Lewis Taaffe added a fourth with a rapid run leaving both centre halves for dead before deftly chipping the ball over the oncoming North.
And there was enough time remaining for the visitors to add a consolation goal with Luke Pigden poking past Lampe.
Concord move up to 10th and condemned Wealdstone to the bottom of the pile in what has proved a difficult start to life for them in the Vanarama South.
