THE Conference South’s form sides served up a scintillating encounter for a crowd of 277 at the Aspect Arena as the Beachboys completed the double over their high-flying visitors.
Havant started on the front foot and took an early lead when Ben Wright applied a first time finish to Bradley Bubb’s cut-back from Ben Swallow’s through ball.
Concord upped their pace and it paid dividends as they equalised through Lewis Taaffe.
A wonderful move down the right featuring Jeremey Walker and Miles Taylor was ended with Taaffe sweeping a right footed strike inside the post.
The hosts’ domination began to tell and Havant soon found themselves behind as Taaffe helped himself to his second.
Anticipation and a perfectly timed run saw him meet the deflected effort of Steve Cawley, as he side-footed a first-time volley home.
Miles continued his impressive run of form and heaped further misery on the promotion hopefuls from the south coast when he started and finished a move which saw him produce a technically sound left footed volley which flew into the right corner – much to the delight of those clad in yellow and blue.
There was still time for the Hawks to provide a nervy finish as Scott Donnelly rifled a beauty into the top right corner after being given a chance to run at the home defence.
But it was not to be and Concord took top spot in the form table and made it 14 games unbeaten in all competitions to keep their play-off puch firmly on track.
STAR MAN: Lewis Taaffe (Concord).
Concord: Vickers, Walker, Glozier (Lampe), Woodyard, King, Fry, Miles, White, Taaffe (Stokes), Collins, Cawley (Dowie).
