Following the heartache of losing in the BBC Essex Senior Cup Semi Finals this past Tuesday, the Beachboys return to Vanarama National League South action this coming Saturday as the lads travel to Hemel Hempstead Town.
The previous fixture between our two sides was back in November, when the Tudors came to the Aspect Arena and were handed a decisive 3-1 defeat at the hands of the Beachboys, with the Concord goals coming from Pollock, Sheriff and Nouble.
Concord Rangers have a pretty good recent record against Hemel Hempstead in the league, having won 4 of the last 7, all of those victories here at home, and not having lost against them since October 2016 when the Beachboys fell to a 2-1 defeat at Vauxhall Road.
There’s more than a few familiar faces that will be lining up against us this coming weekend, both on and off the pitch. Obviously, the management team need no introduction, but in the playing squad the Tudors have a number of former Beachboys, including Tosan Popo, Sam Beasant, Sam Ashford and Connor Essam.
Heading in to the game Saturday, our opponents haven’t won a league game since New Years Day, when they beat their local rivals St Albans City 1-0 at Vauxhall Road. Since then they’ve lost 6 of their last 10 league fixtures, causing them to drop to 12th in the table with 38 points. Concord Rangers are two places behind them on 35 points, but thanks to our cup run we’ve got 3 games in hand.
Hemel Hempstead Town will be hosting this fixture in support of the Football vs Homophobia campaign, and as per their website the admission prices for this weekend are as follows: £14 for Adults, £9 for Concessions, U18s are £5, U16s are just £1 with a paying adult, and U5s are free of charge.
