Saturday sees Concord Rangers take on National League North side, Leamington in the Buildbase FA Trophy Round of 16, the first time the club have reached this stage ever. With replays, late goals and postponements, the day to make history is just around the corner for the Beach Boys.

Tosin Olufemi, the club captain, praised the accomplishment of team. “It’s been a fantastic FA Trophy run so far, deservedly knocking out some top teams. It has created a real buzz within the group, and long may it continue!”

The last round of the Trophy had to be played over two legs after the first game resulted in a 1-1 draw at the ASPECT Arena. Although there were barriers in the way, the team got the vital win thanks to a calm and composed goal from striker, Joel Nouble. This season’s Trophy run has had created many unforgettable moments, but the Captain loved the Bath City Replay the most. “Beating Bath has been the highlight of the competition so far, especially with the first game getting called off after we travelled all the way there! The last min winner made it special. Noubz thank you!”

The Club are three rounds from Wembley, including this weekend’s tie against The Brakes. “Not hiding the fact Saturday is a big game, for the boys and for the club. It’s a great opportunity to prove what we can do against another good team and get into that quarter final spot – one step closer to Wembley! Let’s see how far we can take this run!”

The full-back has featured in every game on the journey, including playing at left-back on more than one occasion. Saturday is a big day for the club and for everyone working behind the scenes. Many players who feature in the team have not got this far in the competition, it’s a big occasion for everyone involved. Olufemi believes the team can go into the game in a positive frame of mind. “The players have just got to reiterate the focus that we’ve had over recent weeks.”

“Play the game not the occasion and show the levels we have been playing at recently, we’ll have a positive weekend.” – Tosin Olufemi
