(Hemel Hempstead, Vanarama South, 6th April 2015)

The Vanarama Conference South playoffs, I guess we can talk about them now that it’s a possibilty that our little club could be a part of them this season?

I don’t think that anyone involved with this club believed that when we got promoted prior to last season that within 2 years we would be in with a realistic chance of making the Conference South playoffs. But that is the case right now, with the victories over Havant & Waterlooville and Ebbbsfleet leaving us just a point outside those hallowed spots. This is being written prior to the Eastbourne game on Saturday so things may have changed since then, but the way the lads have been playing I wouldn’t bank on that.

It was made glaringly obvious to me last week that my memories of last year & knowledge of the Conference South promotion system is severely lacking, as I was hoping that if we made the playoffs I may not have to produce another programme if we were drawn away. That’s not the case though, there’s home and away legs as most of you probably remember, so we could end up back here at Thames Road at least one more time.

The dates for the playoffs are worth noting, obviously if we get there then fixture details will be published on the club website, but for now the dates are below:

Semi-Final 1st Leg ? Wednesday 29th April

Semi-Final 2nd Leg ? Saturday 2nd May

Promotion Final ? Saturday 9th May

Before that though, we have a few games left to worry about. Today it’s Hemel Hempstead Town, and our run in includes trips to Staines and Farnborough, along with our final home fixture against Hayes & Yeading. All teams that are below us in the table, and all will provide a stern test of our abilities.

It’s a great situation to be in, exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time, we have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Whether it’s the players taking to the field, the committee working behind the scenes, or the fans cheering the lads on, soak it up, and whether we make the playoffs or not, remember to enjoy the feeling! One more home fixture to go before the season is over, so I will see you then on Saturday 18th April!

You Are My Concord!!
