CONCORD RANGERS will be trying to make the FA Cup’s cherished first round proper for the first time in the club’s history when they go to Vanarama South rivals St Albans City on Saturday.
The Beachboys exited the famous competition at this stage last season following a sobering 3-0 defeat at non league giants Barnet (a photo of Concord chairman Antony Smith welcoming players on to the pitch at the Hive is above).
Rangers boss Danny Cowley will be looking for his side to seize their big chance this time around at Clarence Park.
The Saints reached the first round proper last year and lost 8-1 at home to League Two Mansfield Town.
Saturday’s winners will go into Monday’s draw and will have the chance to draw League heavyweights including Essex’s own Colchester United and Southend United.
* The supporters’ coach will be leaving Concord’s Aspect Arena, off Thames Road, at 12.30pm on Saturday. For more details on that you can tweet @ConcordRangers.
